Skate Park Meeting
Well, I'm not sure where to begin. With all the work that the County has done concerning getting the word out to everyone in Kearns with the RoboDial and the Newspaper. The attendance from the Park Wood residence was lacking... In fact it was really poor. I'm just thinking out loud, but I am wondering if anyone really cares now that we are not having the increase of traffic because of the parking at the ends of Park Wood Dr. and Loder Dr. We have one more chance to have our voices hear on the 13th of August.

Update for the Skate Park and Oquirrh Park Improvements
Well, Roger and I went to the county meeting last week. The county has heard our voice concerning the traffic that would be put into our neighborhood. Because they will not put the parking lots at the end of our streets they will be scaling down all the improvements to the park. I personally would rather have a nice park and walking trails than a skate park. But we were informed that because we have the funding that the park has to go in. I'm not sure that the community in Kearns would agree. So, if you want to be heard then we need to stay informed and attend all the KCC meetings. Just to let you all know we did get a response in the Deseret News concerning our fight that we are involved with concerning the skate park. The address for that article is http://www.deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,700234956,00.html. Leave a comment if you could that county reads these.

Public Response to Plans
I would like to thank everyone who came to the Public Meeting concerning the Skate Park and relocations of the soccer fields. I feel that they have to take a second look at the Park plan so that it will not affect our neighborhood. There is a story about the skate park online at the Deseret News Website. When you get there in the search field type in "Skate Park". You will see what Mr. McDowell has to say about the park and what the Kearns Community Council will be doing to make the park better without the increase of traffic.
Those who know what is happening need to get out to their neighbors to get them involved.
I'll keep you posted.

Board Meeting
I am going to go to the KOPFC Board Meeting next week, so that I can hopefully discuss the proposed use of their fields for the parking lot and soccer fields that will be displaced because of the Skate/BMX park. Their meetings are on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. I will let you know what the outcome will be.

Skating Park By Park Wood Subdivision
Here is the first item that needs to be addressed. The stating/BMX park and the various new placements of the soccer fields. Now if you have any concerns you can e-mail me so that I can give your concerns to Cathy. Here is a letter that she sent me.
"Please understand that this is only a preliminary proposal of a site for the statepark.
The proper channel to go through for information related to the statepark and Oquirrh Park, or to voice any concerns you may have, will be through me as the liaison between the community and Salt Lake County. It is my role to poll the community as well as the potential users of the facilities to gain an understanding as to what the community/users want. If anyone feels that I am adequately answering questions and concerns, feel free to contact Chuck McDowell, chair of the Kearns Community Council. There have been well publicized town hall meetings regarding the skatepark. I understand that some of the community has concerns, I also understand and believe strongly that we are obligated to provide a safe place for our children to practice their sports.
Cathy Harding"
So if we want something to happen then we need to ban together to voice our concerns concerning the placement of the parking lot and new soccer fields. Here is a picture of the proposed placements of the skate/BMX park.
